Utkal University win SOA Premier League

Utkal University won the SOA Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, beating Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra in the final by five wickets at here SOA University campus today. Anand Sahu was instrumental in the win, bagging three wickets for 14 runs.

The champion team bagged the trophy along with a cash award of Rs 50,000, while the runners-up team picked up a purse of Rs 30,000. Girija Rout, Ananda Sahu (both Utkal University) and Rahul Hota (Ravenshaw University) were adjudged the man of the tournament, best bowler and best batsman respectively.

Orissa Cricket Association vice-president Naba Patnaik, host Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed University Vice-Chancellor Prof S C Mishra and the university managing member Gopabandhu Kar presented the trophy and prizes at the closing function.

BRIEF SCORE (Final): BIT 92/9 in 20 overs (Utpal Anand 25; Ananda Sahu 3/14, Lagnajit Bej 2/15) lost to Utkal University 93/5 in 12.4 overs (Nitish Kumar 3/16, Neelkamal 2/29).
